Brinkley Farms History

Brinkley Farms sign
Brinkley Farms was established in 1941 by Mildred and Abram Brinkley. It began as a tobacco farm and in 1973 son William and wife Dianne started with the basic operation of the farm. Children Michael, Tara and Kristen have also been involved with the farm operation.

In the 1990's, tobacco allotments were reduced and the farm was no longer profitable as a tobacco farm. To stay on the farm, we began to look for ways to diversify. We began growing vegetables and for several years we supplied local residents with produce.

Jennifer and Michael In 2000, we added pasture-raised pork and beef to our production.

Son Michael and wife Jennifer are now involved in all aspects of the farm, from production to running markets and a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture).

Daughters Tara and Kristen help out with the markets whenever possible.

With three grown children, in-laws and five grandchildren, it's our hope to keep the farm operational and profitable for future generations.
